5 Elements

The foundation of the vedic system is the understanding of the maha bhutas, commonly known as 5 elements. which in reality are 5 phases in which matter can be (Solid, Liquid, Plasma, Gas, Space). Western Philosophy sees Space as Extra Dimension, but in Eastern Philosophy Space is included in the Phases.

These are explained in detail in nyaya/vaisheshika and rig-veda.

Vastu

The science of Architecture. The house (dwelling) as the extension of the Body. The direct surrounding. The Walls and Roof create a Box of protection against the Environment.

Applied Vastu balances the Influence of the changing Sun and Seasons. It tries to create a constant climate, not to hot and not too cold. By arraning walls , doors, windows and furniture the energy is optimized.

It is related to Feng-Shui which optimized flow and traffic of energy and movement in the house. (Removes Blockages or provides security).

Most of Feng-Shui is not directional, only the Maindoor defines the Center.

In Vastu Directions are defined by the movement of the sun during the 24 hours and arranges accordingly.

On a bigger timeframe than vastu (360 days instead of 24hours for a full cycle), it predicts the environment in different times of year.

Winter, Cold, Dark, Rest
Spring, Raising Energy, Planting Seeds
Summer, Hot, Bright, Growing
Autumn, Setting Energy, Harvest
